Do you want to paint?

Some of you like to paint (like me :} )

Sometimes we visit art schools or studios or whatever other place which advertises itself as a place where one learns how to handle a paint brush or pencil. You go there often: in the evenings, on the weekends, and you paint. Then you paint again and when that’s finished – paint even more. You have excellent feedbacks from teacher – you are basically someone between Rembrandt and Van Gogh, but your guts tell you that they might be cunning. There might be tons of reasons why sometimes teachers don't want to upset you and don’t point you at all your mistakes.

So, is there anything you can do about it? Is there a way to learn the drawing or painting skills and get a honest feedback even if your work is terrible?

Well, it turns out there is. Almost every country and many cities within a country have some sort of university that teaches arts, in case of Latvia, for example it is the Art Academy of Latvia.

The one great benefit is that usually these places offer courses for students who will later want to study there, and often these courses accept people with any skill level to enter.

And it is fine if you don’t want to study there in the future, they are going to accept you anyway. There is no age limit, the price is usually lower than in fancy studios, the people teaching you know more about art. And those teachers also do pretty well when it comes to a feedback. All the points of your work that need to be corrected will be identified, and shown to you – no matter if you are Rembrandt or Van Gogh.

And of course you will have a lot of fun and will meet a lot of people with different backgrounds.
